A Letter from the Principal
Dear Families and Friends of Asheville Catholic School:
In 1956, St. Lawrence Parochial School was built in North Asheville. It became Asheville Catholic Community School in 1980 to provide a school for the “community” of parishes in the area. The name was changed to Asheville Catholic School in 1992.Asheville Catholic School is a fully accredited PreK-8 Catholic school. Our dedicated faculty and staff educate students to be Christian leaders, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens. We take a personal interest in each and every child.
Catholic education strives to educate the whole child: spiritually, emotionally, socially, intellectually, artistically, and physically. Our curricula and co-curricular activities are designed to instill in each student a reverence for God and all his creation, and to affirm the rich diversity of our students, families, teachers, and priests, while building positive community involvement. We have a proven track record educating children to become people “with and for others” in the Christian spirit of service education. Indeed, our talented graduates have an established record of academic success and extra curricular involvement.
At Asheville Catholic School we create ideal conditions for learning and leadership to flourish. Art, computer, library, music, physical education, and Spanish is offered at every level. Subjects are departmentalized in the middle school classes to prepare our grades 6 to 8 students for high school. All classes participate in fieldtrips to educational and cultural destinations throughout the Buncombe County area. Our after school programs include athletics, Battle of the Books, chess, drama, school newspaper, and tutoring. For families with after-school care needs, we offer extended day care program.
As partners in education, we welcome and encourage parent participation, as there are numerous opportunities to be involved in the school. To get a sense of our school community and the many events that make up our learning environment, you can log on to the monthly calendar and the principal’s weekly newsletter.
If you would like to visit our school, please call the school office and arrangements will be made to do so. Thank you for your interest in Asheville Catholic School, the destination school for quality Catholic education in the Asheville area.
